Boris pledges new street trees
On Wednesday 26th March, Boris paid a visit to Valentine Park in the London Borough of Redbridge to announce his new plan to make London a greener city. He was joined by the Conservative Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Weinberg.
Boris plans to plant 10,000 new street trees with money saved from axing 'The Londoner', the paper produced at tax payers expense to promote the work of the present Mayor.
Between 2002 - 2007, Redbridge planted 4,871 urban trees, making it the leading tree-planting borough in London and Boris is determined to ensure that every Londoner has greenery in their part of the capital.
Speaking after the visit, Boris said: "The work being done here in Redbridge, is a testament to the environmental credentials of local Conservative government. I pledge to ensure all Londoners, can share in an improved local environment at the expense of tax-paid for propaganda."
