Boris talks shop in Westminster
Boris Johnson travelled to Church Street Market and Harrow Road to talk to the local traders about the spiralling cost of living and trading in London. Boris was accompanied by Mehfuz Ahmed from the Church Street Traders Association, and met with Muhammad Afzel, Head of the Harrow Road Traders Association.
He asked the local businessmen what the next Mayor of London can do to improve their livelihoods and, particularly on the Harrow Road, whether the Western Extension of the Congestion Charge had adversely affected their businesses.
Commenting, Boris said:
"I will fight to protect the Church Street Market and others like it, and I will make sure that tenants and stallholders get a fair deal on their rents.
"The Western Extension has clearly had some harmful effects on businesses along the Harrow Road and I will commit to a proper consultation with the people who live in the area when I am Mayor."
