Boris visits Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science
On Thursday 24th April, Boris visited the Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science at University College London with David Cameron.
The Institute has been involved in a whirlwind of initiatives including formal briefings with key opinion-leaders, training of large numbers of police crime analysts, inspiring and designing new government policies for reducing car crime, redesigning goods and services to make them less vulnerable to crime, and undertaking a variety of research projects.
Speaking after the visit Boris said: "The institute is on the cutting edge of not only crime detection but also crime prevention, and its existence highlights the need to be vigilant where crime is concerned. I plan to make the cutting of crime and ensuring the safety of Londoners a central feature of my Mayoralty."
"The present Mayor's lack of energy and leadership in this area is breath-taking, and on May 1st, Londoners will be faced with a choice between a Mayor who has grown arrogant and out of touch with the problems effecting Londoners, and the dynamism and fresh-thinking I plan to bring to the role."
