Lievesham 918 (Anglo-Saxon charter), Levesham 1086 (Domesday Book), Leueseham 1203, Leusham c. 1762, that is 'homestead or village of a man called Leofsa', from an Old English personal name and Old English ham. An even earlier reference occurs in an Anglo-Saxon charter of 862 describing the bounds of Bromley.
